1 Corinthians 14 - Building Unto Maturity

Date recorded:

Topic:
1 Corinthians

We pursue what we love! This truth defines us and will most often direct the compass of our lives! We will sacrifice for, endeavor to, and steer towards our affections thus whatever, or whoever, controls the heart controls the man! So how does this truth relate to Christians, especially when it comes to the assembling of the saints in Church? Paul summarizes it and says, "Let all things be done for building up"! You see, when the saints come together, our aim should be to benefit and edify each other, and not to build up ourselves in any way! This concept is absent in many Church gatherings, as so many today seek to build up themselves when they come together, especially in the scope of "spiritual gifts"! But Brethren, this deceptive form of selfishness and disobedience must not be so! As Paul says, "If anyone thinks that he is a prophet, or spiritual, he should acknowledge that the things I am writing to you are a command of the Lord. If anyone does not recognize this, he is not recognized."
