How does a contract work? Two parties come together in agreement and commit to fulfill their individual part. The Covenant of Christ is no different! Hebrews 10:23 says that we must hold our confession without wavering, for He who promised is faithful. What does this mean? Relating this question to Genesis 21:1, we see that God visited Sarah after many years of waiting so that what was promised when unseen, finally was unveiled and seen...a promise fulfilled! For us, one day Jesus will come back, and His promise of eternal life for those who believe still stands...and "in this hope we are saved!", so that "we who have fled for refuge might have strong encouragement to hold fast"!! Oh how we must not fall asleep to our agenda in this life, but remain with steadfast purpose to see our King glorified no matter the cost. One grain of sand is so small compared to the vastness of the seashore...and yet so many today live for that single grain of sand. If our lives revolve around our jobs, marriages, children, school, friends, etc...all things with an expiration date, then we are not walking as we ought! To have the fullness of hope in this life, we must maintain the fullness of our purpose in light of eternity! As Jonathan Edwards once said, "Dear God, stamp eternity on our eyeballs"!
