Have you ever felt alone? Have you ever felt oppressed and squeezed, as if the world around you were choking the very life from you? Have you ever imagined just what it would have been like to abide in a great fish? Separate the cartoon imagery you have from your childhood, and picture what it would have been like for Jonah to abide for 3 days inside a fish! You see, to understand the rest we have in Christ, one must first understand the weight we bear from sin...the running from God and His plan for our life! So here is Jonah, tasked with preaching a message of repentance to the Assyrians, who must first learn to wrestle with repentance himself! So how does God get Jonah to realize that his own way will only lead to death? He brings him to a state of contrition...
