There is a theme all throughout Scripture in which God illustrates our need to decrease in order for Heaven to increase in us, and this chapter is dripping with this concept all throughout. For it is impossible to serve God as He ought to be served while living as a people of mixture, whether of the Law of Moses and the Law of Christ, or living of this world and living for Heaven. We can only truly serve one master, and be under one rule...may it be the government that was on His shoulders (Isaiah 9:6)!!
